SEAC TO HOST FIRST-EVER EASTERN REGIONAL JUNIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
The athletics scene in Ghana’s Eastern Region is set to come alive as the Star of the East Athletics Club (SEAC) presents the first edition of the Eastern Regional Junior Open Championship 2025. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 11th October 2025, at the Koforidua Youth Resource Center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The championship aims to unearth and nurture young athletic talents from across the region, offering a platform for junior athletes to showcase their potential in a competitive and developmental environment. The event will feature participants from various age categories, including U7, U10, U13, and U15, competing in track and field disciplines such as sprints, relays, long jump, javelin, and middle-distance races.
Activities lined up include:
U7: 60m
U10: 100m, 4x100m, and long jump
U13: 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, and long jump
U15: 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, 4x100m, long jump, and javelin
The event will be graced by Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, Eastern Regional Minister, as the special guest, alongside several dignitaries, coaches, and sports development enthusiasts. Her presence symbolizes the government’s growing commitment to promoting youth sports and athletic excellence in the region.
Speaking ahead of the event, organizers from SEAC emphasized their mission to create opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills and transition into national and international levels of competition. The championship also serves as a platform for school and club coaches to identify promising talents for future regional and national representation.
