Accra Gears Up for 2025 Millennium Marathon with Temporary Road Closures

Accra is set to host the much-anticipated KGL Foundation Millennium Marathon on Saturday, 6th September 2025, an event that promises to bring together thousands of runners, fitness enthusiasts, and spectators. As part of preparations, organizers have announced temporary road closures to ensure the smooth running of the event.
According to the notice, several key roads in the capital will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5:00 am to 10:00 am. Motorists and vendors operating along the marathon routes are advised to take note and plan alternative travel arrangements.

Participants in the half-marathon will begin at Starlets 91 Road and pass through:
Kings Street
Lokko Road
Oxford Street
Cantonments Road
Rangoon Lane
Josif Broz Tito Avenue
Jawaharlal Nehru Road
Liberation Road
Independence Avenue
Liberia Road
5 km Route
Runners in the shorter race will also start at Starlets 91 Road and cover the following areas:
Kings Street
Lokko Road
Oxford Street
Mission Street
Okodan Road/Blue Gate Junction
Sai Kojo Street
Osu Post Office
28th February Street
Castle Junction
Independence Square

Organizers have also urged residents and vendors along these routes to clean gutters and tidy their surroundings ahead of the marathon. This is part of efforts to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for participants and visitors.
