The Atletismo Brasil Challenger is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger (Category D), acting as a developmental tier below the Bronze, Silver, and Gold circuit events.

On August 24, 2025, it was held in parallel with the Grande Prêmio Brasil de Atletismo (Category C) at the Centro Nacional Loterias Caixa de Desenvolvimento do Atletismo in Bragança Paulista, São Paulo.

The event provided athletes opportunities to earn valuable qualifying marks and world ranking points—crucial for securing spots at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, scheduled for September 13–21, 2025.

It represented the final qualification window, as the global cutoff was August 24.

A diverse international field participated, with athletes from 21 different countries, including

Brazil, South Africa, Argentina, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Great Britain, Guyana, the British Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Japan, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Atletismo Brasil Challenger events ran from 9:00 AM to around 11:40 AM.

The Grand Prix Brasil (Category C) followed later, featuring youth events and other senior disciplines.

Among the highlights were Brazilian and South American record holder in the 100 m (9.93 s), Luiz Maurício da Silva, and a Brazilian and South American javelin thrower with a 91.00 m mark—one of the best in the world for 2025.

Challenger events sit below the Bronze level—they’re developmental meets with more flexible entry standards and typically less prize money, designed to foster competition and athlete progression.

They allow emerging athletes to obtain ranking points and qualification marks in a structured but accessible environment.
