Auditor-General directs Accra Technical University to reclaim Land Cruiser and Mercedes Benz from former VC
The Auditor-General has discovered that former Vice Chancellor of Accra Technical University (ATU), Professor Samuel Nii Odai, is still in possession of the official vehicles that were given to him during his tenure in office.
In its report for the year ended 31 December 2023, the Auditor-General indicated that during its audit, it noted that Prof. Samuel Nii Odai did not hand over his official Toyota Land Cruiser and Mercedes Benz after the expiration of his contract with the University in July 2023.
The Auditor-General also concluded that in his report the former Vice Chancellor was still occupying his official residence at the time of the audit.
“We inspected official vehicles of the University and noted that Prof. Samuel Nii Odai, the former Vice Chancellor, did not hand over his official Toyota Land Cruiser with the registration number GN 515 – 22 and Mercedes Benz with the registration number GT 3622 – 22 after the expiry of his contract with the university in July 2023.
We further noted that he was still occupying the official residence of the University at the time of our audit in March 2024,” the Auditor-General’s report published on its website revealed.
The Auditor-General, in its report, directed the Management of ATU to ensure that Prof. Samuel Nii Odai hands over the bungalow and the two vehicles to the University.
“We recommended to the Management to take steps to ensure that Prof. Samuel Nii Odai hands over the bungalow and the vehicles to the University,” said the Auditor-General’s report.
