Bob Linking Supports Maiden Ghana Mountain and Trail 2025

The Chairman of the Western North Athletics Association, Godson A. Amponsah, popularly known as Bob Linking, has extended his support to the maiden edition of the Ghana Mountain and Trail 2025. In a commendable gesture, Bob Linking donated an undisclosed amount of cash through the General Secretary, W01 Moro Salifu, during a presentation at his residence in Accra this morning.
Speaking on behalf of the Ghana Mountain and Trail Federation (GMTF), the General Secretary expressed heartfelt gratitude for Bob Linking’s generous support. “We are deeply thankful for this gesture, and we assure you that the funds will be used solely for the preparation of this mega event,” he stated. The federation is gearing up for the highly anticipated event, scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025. The race will begin at Oyarifa in the Greater Accra Region and end at Peduase in the Eastern Region, promising a thrilling experience for participants and spectators alike.
Bob Linking emphasised the importance of supporting lesser-known sports in Ghana, especially emerging federations that often struggle to secure funding. “Organising such a competition requires significant resources, and many companies are unfamiliar with these new federations. I felt the need to support them to ensure a successful event,” he said. He further highlighted the challenges of securing sponsorships for events in Ghana, urging individuals to step up and support such noble causes.
In addition to the donation, the Ghana Armed Forces athletics team also paid a courtesy call to Bob Linking, recognising his significant contributions to athletics in Ghana. Over the past decade, Bob Linking has been an instrumental figure in the development and promotion of athletics in the country. His unwavering commitment has inspired many and provided much-needed support to emerging talents and events.
