Ambassador Francis Chuks Njoaguani, Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) and Director of the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, highlighted the significance of the event. He announced an increase in the total prize money to $71,000, with a special focus on the 5km fun run, also known as the people’s race.
The prize for the 5km race winner has been raised from $750 to $1,000 (approximately N1.7 million), with higher rewards extended to all top finishers, as outlined in the participants’ guide. This adjustment aims to encourage ECOWAS citizens to embrace running as a healthy lifestyle.
