Eddie Nketiah Opens Up About International Future To Play For Ghana
Eddie Nketiah has hinted at a possible international switch to Ghana despite his previous involvement with England’s youth teams. Speaking on the Beautiful Game Podcast, the Crystal Palace striker reflected on his international journey and the possibilities ahead.
โWhen I was younger, representing England was an option after progressing through the youth system,โ Nketiah said. โBut if Ghana invites me, then Iโll be there.โ His comments suggest an openness to joining the Black Stars, a move that would excite many Ghanaian fans who have followed his rise. In 2022, Eddie was close to switching nationality but did not materialise.
The Ghana Black Stars are on the verge of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in 3 different countries for the first time: the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico. Ghana has played 6 matches and lost just one game.
While he has represented England at U21 level and was even called up to the senior squad, Nketiah has yet to make a competitive appearance, leaving the door open for Ghana. With dual nationality and a strong cultural connection, his decision could shape the next chapter of his international career. The ball now lies with Ghana’s football authorities.
