Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has been named to the Management Committee of the Black Galaxies, the national team comprising home-based players.

The reconstituted committee will be chaired by Kingsley Osei Bonsu, an Executive Council member of the GFA and CEO of Bechem United. He will be assisted by Daniel Agboga, chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association, as vice chairman. The other appointees are Michael Kofi Oduro, CEO of Na-God FC, and Daniel Asante of Wamanafo Mighty Royals.

Tasked with guiding the direction, planning, and competitive readiness of the Black Galaxies, the committee is expected to chart a fresh path for the side. According to the Ghana Football Association, Badu’s appointment brings added value, as his “experience at the top level of international football and understanding of player development” will enrich the team’s preparations.

Badu’s connection with the Black Galaxies stretches back to 2009, when he featured at the African Nations Championship in Côte d’Ivoire. That same year, he was a key figure in Ghana’s U-20 team, which made history by clinching both the African Youth Championship and the FIFA U-20 World Cup. His senior career later saw him earn 78 caps for the Black Stars, making him one of the nation’s most seasoned midfielders.

The Black Galaxies are now in a rebuilding phase after missing out on the recent Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), where they were knocked out in the qualifiers by rivals Nigeria. With a new management team in place, there is renewed optimism that the side can bounce back stronger in upcoming competitions.
