Ghana Athletics Partners ISSAG for Sports Development
In a significant step toward advancing national sports development, Ghana Athletics (GA) and the International Schools Sports Association of Ghana (ISSAG) have entered into a strategic partnership. Formalised on Friday, January 17, 2024, this collaboration aims to establish a comprehensive sports program to foster the growth of athletics in Ghana.
ISSAG, with over a decade of experience running its athletics program for students, initiated this partnership to expand its impact. By teaming up with Ghana Athletics, the organisation seeks to provide more opportunities for student participation and promote greater inclusivity in sports.
The partnership will standardize events by introducing internationally approved equipment, officials, and venues. This alignment with global standards is expected to broaden Ghana’s talent pool, offering a pathway for students who might otherwise participate in sports only recreationally.
The signing event was attended by representatives from both organisations, including ISSAG officials Kenaz Bortieh Mensah (Faith Montessori School)—Secretary, Kenneth Amedume (The Roman Ridge School)—Technical Director, Michael Oduro (SOS)—Executive Member, and Catherine Tukpe (GIS)—Executive Member. Ghana Athletics was represented by its President, Bawah Fuseini, Acting CEO Ahmed Baffoe, and Administrator/Head of Secretariat, Yaw Boakye Yiadom.
Both organizations are committed to working together to achieve their shared vision, marking this partnership as a significant milestone in promoting athletics across Ghana.
