Ghana’s Historic Mountain and Trail Run to Feature Nationwide Participation and Security Services – W01 Moro Salifu
The Ghana Mountain and Trail Federation is proud to announce the unprecedented Ghana Mountain and Trail Run, set to take place on Saturday, 1 February 2025. The event, a first of its kind in Ghana, has garnered widespread support and participation from various institutions, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts across the nation.
Speaking to Richportal TV, the Ghana Mountain and Trail Federation’s General Secretary, W01 Moro Salifu, confirmed that all security services have registered to compete in this historic event. The Ghana Police Service (GPS), Ghana Fire Service (GFS), Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Ghana Prisons Service (GPS), and the esteemed Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have confirmed their entries, highlighting this groundbreaking race’s national significance and appeal.
Additionally, athletes from all 16 regions of Ghana are set to participate, bringing together a diverse pool of talent to showcase the country’s athletic potential. This extensive representation underscores the unifying power of sports and the importance of this event in fostering national pride and camaraderie.
Participants will traverse the scenic yet challenging terrain of the Aburi Mountains, with the race starting at Oyarifa and concluding at the Methodist Basic School near Peduase Lodge. The picturesque landscape, coupled with the physical demands of the course, promises to make the competition both thrilling and memorable.
Coach Moro Salifu emphasised that this event is not only about celebrating athleticism but also about creating opportunities. “Athletes who excel in this competition will have the chance to represent Ghana in international mountain and trail events,” he revealed. This presents a unique opportunity for participants to elevate their careers and showcase Ghana’s potential on the global stage.
The Federation has prepared medals for podium finishers and certificates for all participants to further incentivise participation. The top 10 athletes in each category will also receive cash prizes, reflecting the Federation’s commitment to rewarding excellence and encouraging widespread involvement.
With all preparations complete, the Ghana Mountain and Trail Federation is poised to deliver an event of international standards.
