GOC REPORT: 13th AFRICAN GAMES

 

Ghana had the distinct honour of hosting the 13th edition of the African Games, previously known as the All-African Games, in March 2024. This landmark event marked the first time Ghana served as host for this prestigious multi-sport competition, which brought together athletes and officials from across the African continent to celebrate excellence in sports.

 

 

The 13th African Games was a moment of great pride and significance for Ghana, showcasing the nation’s organizational capabilities and its commitment to the development of sports in Africa. Ghana’s athletes performed admirably, securing medals across various disciplines, which boosted the country’s position on the final medal table.

 

 

On behalf of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), I would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to all federations that participated in the Games. Special recognition goes to our athletes, whose dedication, hard work, and exceptional performances placed Ghana on the map. Your efforts brought smiles to the faces of millions and instilled pride in the hearts of all Ghanaians.

 

 

Ghana achieved an impressive sixth-place finish on the medal table, amassing a total of 69 medals. This medal haul comprised 19 gold medals, 29 silver medals, and 21 bronze medals, achieved across nine sporting disciplines. The breakdown of medals by discipline is as follows:
