The Africa Women in Sports Association (AWISA) successfully held its 4th Elective Congress in Accra, Ghana, from the 7th to the 10th of November, 2024. During the elections, Ghana’s Women in Sports Association (WISA) President, Mrs. Joyce Mahama, was elected as AWISA President for a four-year term, signifying a major step forward for Ghana in regional sports leadership. Mrs. Mahama’s election is expected to bring fresh energy and strategic direction to AWISA’s mission. Other key elected officials include Ms. Grace Asiam, also from Ghana, who assumed the role of Treasurer General, and Ms. Hanna Bennin, who was elected as AWISA Region 2 President.

AFRICAN OLYMPIC SPORTS CONFEDERATION (CASOL)

The meeting brought together representatives from the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), all African Sports Confederations, the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The purpose of CASOL is to coordinate and enhance the quality of games held in Africa, ensuring greater cohesion and organizational excellence across Olympic sports on the continent.
