Karim Zito Hails Kotoko’s Spirit After Hearts Win
Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has commended his players for their resilience and determination in earning a hard-fought victory over longtime rivals Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League encounter.
Playing away at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Porcupine Warriors delivered a disciplined performance to edge past the Phobians in the first Super Clash of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
In a fiercely contested match between Ghana’s two most successful clubs, Guinean forward Morifing Donzo’s first-half penalty proved decisive, sealing all three points for Kotoko.
Speaking after the game, Coach Karim Zito admitted it was a challenging contest but praised his team’s focus and winning mentality.
“Everyone knows how tough games between Hearts and Kotoko are. You saw the crowd — the atmosphere was intense. It wasn’t easy, but the players had the right mindset and were determined to win. This victory is very important for our goals this season,” he said.
The result means Asante Kotoko remain unbeaten in their opening six matches of the 2025/26 campaign. With three games in hand, the Reds are firmly on track in their pursuit of the Ghana Premier League title.
