Koogo Atia and Mariama Adu Reign Supreme in Winneba
Ghanaian sensational distance runner Koogo Atia has emerged as the winner of the 2025 Osimpam Half Marathon in Winneba, Central Region. The anticipated race attracted athletes not only from Ghana but also from international athletes. The race started at Gomoa Nyarkudze and passed through the Swedru-Winneba road and finished at the Winneba Durbar Ground.
Participants of nearly 250 athletes took part in the third edition of this prestigious race. Most of the athletes were able to cross the finish line just under 85 minutes, and there were no casualties.
The race organisers awarded the top 10 finishers with cash and other souvenirs. The 2025 Osimpam Half Marathon is part of the Osimpam Festival being celebrated by the people of Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana.
Mariama Adu, a native of Winneba, made history by becoming the first athlete to win the Osimpam Half Marathon from the Central Region. She showed her determination and resilience from start to finish. The event was successful, and the coaches and athletes commended the organisers for a wonderful event organisation.
The Ghana Mountain and Trail Federation (GMTF) also spearheaded all the technical aspects of the race.
