According to reports, Luke Shaw is getting closer to rejoining Manchester United, who adopted a “conservative” stance following his most recent injury setback.

The 29-year-old left-back has endured a difficult period with recurring hamstring and calf issues, limiting his appearances for Manchester United to just five in the past year.

After making only three substitute appearances for United in this campaign, the England international suffered another fitness setback in December, further prolonging his absence from the team.

United manager Ruben Amorim has emphasized that Shaw’s return to competitive matches will be gradual as the coaching staff aims to avoid rushing his recovery.

Amorim said to reporters last week, “It can take a little bit more time.” “I believe that instead of working alone, he should workout more and spend more time with his teammates playing even simple, small-sided games. We shall begin with a few gaming minutes when I think it is appropriate.

Shaw has been ruled out of Friday’s FA Cup tie, but may be targeting a return to action for Manchester United’s next Premier League outing against Tottenham on Sunday, February 16.

UTD Menace is a reliable insider for United and previously reported the news that Lisandro Martinez would be out for two to three weeks earlier in the season.

Fortunately for Ruben Amorim, Shaw’s setback will not have as much of an impact as it once did because Patrick Dorgu joined the team during the January transfer window.

Shaw, who is earning around £200k-a-week at Old Trafford, has proven to be one of the best left-backs in world football when fit.

The Red Devils haven’t been able to count on him in recent years due to his fitness problems, which explains their insistence on buying a new left-back in the January transfer window
