The 20-year-old left-back has made 53 appearances for Lecce in Serie A. Manchester United has bought Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for an estimated £25.2 million plus £4.2 million in add-ons. The defender will sign a deal through 2030 with the option for an additional year.
As Sky Sports News reported upon Amorim’s appointment, left wing-back had been circled as the priority position and was the one transfer highly likely to happen in this window regardless of the club’s situation.
The 20-year-old Dorgu, who has four Danish caps, has made 53 appearances for Lecce in Serie A since coming from Danish club Nordsjaelland in 2022.
The left-back has become Ruben Amorim’s first major signing after adding 18-year-old defender Ayden Heaven from Arsenal earlier this week.
The defender, who flew into Manchester on Wednesday to finish his medical at Carrington, is expected to join until 2030 with the possibility of an additional year. The fee is estimated to be £25.2 million plus £4.2 million in add-ons. “I am really delighted to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a really memorable day for my whole family,” Dorgu stated after joining the team.
“I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions.”
