Professor Youhwan Kim Appointed as Technical Advisor and Sports Development Director for NPC-Ghana
Ghana’s National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has officially introduced Professor Youhwan Kim as its new Technical Advisor and Sports Development Director. This appointment signifies a strategic effort to advance para-sports in Ghana and elevate the country’s presence on the global Paralympic stage.
The unveiling ceremony, held at the NPC-Ghana Secretariat in Accra, marked the commencement of Professor Kim’s one-year tenure. During this period, he will provide technical expertise and innovative strategies to foster the growth and promotion of para-sports across Ghana.
In his opening remarks at the ceremony, NPC-Ghana President Samson Deen warmly welcomed Professor Kim and emphasized the importance of international collaborations in advancing the Paralympic movement. He expressed profound gratitude to the Korean Government, the Korean National Paralympic Committee, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for their unwavering support. Deployed by the Korean government through KOICA, Professor Kim brings extensive experience in para-sports development, which is expected to significantly impact Ghana’s para-sports landscape.
Professor Kim, while addressing the gathering, shared his enthusiasm for contributing to the growth of para-sports in Ghana. “I can see the excitement from the streets, and I believe Ghana has a bright future in para-sports,” he remarked. “I will do my best during my one-year stay here, and I look forward to your guidance and support.”
The NPC-Ghana has outlined specific objectives for Professor Kim’s tenure, including providing technical advice, building local capacity within the para-sports ecosystem, and crafting a comprehensive roadmap for Ghana’s qualification events leading up to the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
