In their elimination round playoff second leg on Wednesday, Paris St. Germain crushed fellow French team Brest 7-0 at home to earn a 10-0 aggregate victory and advance to the Champions League round of 16.
The match will go down in history. Brest’s first Champions League debut ended cruelly as they suffered the biggest loss ever recorded by a French team in Europe’s top club competition, while PSG achieved their most convincing win in European competition.
Following PSGβs 3-0 away win in the first leg, both teams started slowly, showing little urgency or a clear game plan with the hosts fully in control of the tie.
Bradley Barcola scored PSG’s first goal after 20 minutes, latching on to a through ball and finishing calmly.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled the lead six minutes before the break with his first goal in the tournament for the French champions, stretching to get a foot to a low cross and tapping in from a tight angle.
Vitinha made it three just before the hour mark and Desire Doue added the fourth.

Nuno Mendes scored PSG’s fifth goal, Goncalo Ramos added a sixth, and Senny Mayulu, the seventh PSG player to score and finish the rout, completed Brest’s humiliation four minutes from the end.
Mayulu’s strike became PSG the first side to have seven different scorers in a single Champions League encounter and the capital club will meet Liverpool or Barcelona in the last 16.
The leaders of Ligue 1, PSG, are vying for their first Champions League championship. They were awarded French champions for a record-extending 12th time last season, capturing their 10th victory in the last 12 seasons.
“We are showing that everything is possible. Our goal is to win the Champions League. We will do everything in our power to do it,” Kvaratskhelia said.
