Ghana Athletics has officially announced a strong team of rising track and field stars set to represent the nation at the African Youth Games in Angola, 2025. The lineup features some of the brightest talents from top senior high schools and universities across the country, ready to showcase Ghana’s growing athletic potential on the continental stage.

Female Athletes

Leading the charge for the female contingent is Lois Asantewaa Owusu from the University of Ghana, who will compete in both the 100m and 200m sprints. She’ll be joined by promising sprinters Comfort Mensah of Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS and Leticia Ohenewaa and Mary Coffie, both from St. Louis SHS, also taking on the 100m and 200m events.

In the field events, Christiana Eghan from Yaa Asantewaa Girls SHS will aim for gold in the triple jump, while Helena Abedu of Effutu SHS will battle it out in the 100 m hurdles and 400 m hurdles.

Male Athletes

On the men’s side, Blessing Konadu Junior from Armed Forces SHTS headlines the sprint lineup with entries in the 100m and 200m. Emmanuel Boakye of Prempeh College will test his endurance in the 400m, alongside Agyeman Evans from Okess.

Also from Prempeh College, Bright Brown will compete in the 110m hurdles, while Richford Nunoo from Koforidua Sec. Tech takes on the 800m event. Avoka Godwin Allabilla of Owass will feature in both the 400m and 800m, showing great versatility on the track.

From Effutu SHS, Theophilus Essuman will compete in the 110 m hurdles and 400 m hurdles, joined by teammate Cephas Adjoyie, who will represent Ghana in the long/triple jump events.

This youthful team reflects Ghana’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of track and field champions. With many athletes drawn from renowned athletics schools like Prempeh College, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, and St. Louis SHS, expectations are high for an impressive showing in Angola.
