Tuesday 7 January Declared a Statutory Public Holiday

PRESS RELEASE
The Ministry of the Interior is pleased to inform the general public that Tuesday, 7th January 2025, has been declared a statutory public holiday. This day has been set aside to commemorate Constitution Day, a significant event in the history of the nation. Constitution Day serves as a reminder of the adoption of the 1992 Constitution, which ushered in the Fourth Republic and marked the beginning of a new era of democratic governance in Ghana.

As a statutory public holiday, all citizens are encouraged to observe the day in ways that reflect on the values of democracy, rule of law, and constitutionalism. Constitution Day is not only an opportunity to celebrate the progress made as a democratic nation but also a moment to acknowledge the contributions of all Ghanaians who continue to uphold the principles enshrined in the Constitution.

The Ministry wishes to remind institutions, businesses, and organizations across the country to take note of this holiday and make the necessary adjustments to their schedules.

Signed:
HENRY QUARTEY (MP)
Minister for the Interior
