Portia Anaaba Claims First Major Victory At 2026 Kwahu Mountain Marathon
The 2026 Kwahu Mountain Marathon delivered yet another thrilling chapter, with a standout performance in the women’s race as Portia Anaba secured her first major half marathon title.
Representing All Nations Athletics Academy in the Ashanti region, Anaaba showcased strength, determination, and tactical brilliance throughout the race. Competing against a strong field, she faced stiff competition from her team mate Christiana Asibi Mumuni but remained composed and surged ahead to claim victory in an impressive time of 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 52 seconds.
Christiana Asibi Mumuni followed closely behind, finishing second in 1 hour, 35 minutes and 17 seconds, while Stephani Konlan from Arrows Athletics Club also took third place with a time of 1 hour, 37 minutes and 17 seconds. The women’s race was highly competitive, but Anaaba’s endurance on the challenging Kwahu terrain ultimately set her apart.
The race route, known for its steep climbs and scenic views, passed notable landmarks such as the Kwahu hills and the iconic Rock City Hotel, testing the athletes’ stamina and resilience.
Beyond the races, the event celebrated community spirit with cultural activities, including cooking competitions and the presence of queen mothers. With excellent organization, strong participation, and unforgettable performances, the 2026 Kwahu Mountain Marathon stands as a major success in Ghana’s athletics calendar.
