One of Ghana’s most illustrious football teams is Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, sometimes famously known as Hearts of Oak. A group of young men from Ussher Town in Accra, Greater Accra Region, founded the club on November 11, 1911, and it has since grown to be a major force in Ghanaian and African football.
Hearts of Oak has accomplished important milestones during its existence:
Domestic Success: Since winning the Ghana Premier League for the first time in 1956 and most recently in the 2020–2021 season, the team has won the league 21 times.
Cup Competitions: Hearts of Oak holds 12 Ghanaian FA Cup titles and has won the Ghana Super Cup three times.
Continental Triumphs: On the continental stage, the club won the CAF Champions League in 2000, the CAF Super Cup in 2001, and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2004, making it one of the few African clubs to achieve such a treble.
In recent developments, Hearts of Oak is set to receive a brand new SETRA bus from Germany. This acquisition is a joint effort with German club TSG Hoffenheim, aimed at strengthening the bond of friendship between the two clubs.
This engagement is part of a bigger partnership that includes FC Cincinnati, concentrating on many facets of football development and building international contacts.
The club’s traditional colours are red, yellow, and blue, and they play their home games at the 40,000-capacity Accra Sports Stadium. Hearts of Oak’s rivalry with Kumasi Asante Kotoko is among the most intense in African football, contributing to the club’s rich history and devoted fan base.
