The most-awaited student-led initiative, the PlayChange Foundation, has been successfully launched at the University of Ghana Sports and Wellness Directorate Conference Centre.
Dr. Bello graced the occasion, and he expressed his satisfaction and relief that the students had taken the mantle to create something meaningful, while also encouraging their peers to support the foundation’s initiative.
He further urged the foundation to leverage the crosscutting nature of sports to address various matters and challenges within the community. By adopting a strategic, step-by-step approach, he emphasized that the foundation could effectively tackle issues while also facilitating and supporting other complementary activities.
He later charged the organizers to make a positive change through the foundation.
The Director of the Sports and Wellness Directorate of the University of Ghana, Dr. Luguterah, advised the foundation not to assume that everything would always run smoothly, as challenges are inevitable.
He later emphasized that a truly successful team is one that is able to withstand and rise above such challenges. He further noted that there will be times when progress may not unfold as expected, and it is in those moments that the team must push even harder.
The President of the foundation also emphasized that Play for Change reminds us that play is far from trivial; it is a powerful space for learning, inclusion, health, and peace.
“When youth are empowered, entire communities through play, entire communities are transformed”, the president said.
Mr Oyeyoni Oyewale-Johnson, the Youth Ambassador,
was also present at the launch among other dignitaries.
