Abuja, Nigeria – Seidu Salifu, a talented Ghanaian distance athlete from the Ghana Armed Forces Athletics Team, has achieved a commendable 7th place finish in a time of 2:28:38secs in the men’s marathon at the 2024 African Military Games in Abuja, Nigeria.

Salifu had initially set his sights on breaking the Ghana marathon record, but unfortunately, he encountered unforeseen challenges during the race. The Ghana marathon record is held by Emmanuel Amoo in a time of 2:18:43, which was set in Lagos, Nigeria, on 11 November 1990.

“I experienced muscle cramps from the 35km mark, which forced me to slow down and focus on completing the race,” he explained to Richportal TV.
