NSA Director-General to Launch 2026 Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon

The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Yaw Ampofo-Ankrah, will on Tuesday, August 18, officially launch the 2026 Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon at the Zimansky Hotel in Roman Ridge, Accra.

Mr. Ampofo-Ankrah will be joined by sports personalities, former champions, representatives of the media, sponsors and other stakeholders at the launch, which is expected to provide details about the upcoming marathon and its various activities.

The announcement was made on Monday by Mr. Henri Senyo Penni, General Manager of Medivents Consult, the organisers of the race.

Other dignitaries expected at the launch include the Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Directors of Sports from various security agencies, former marathon champions, sponsors and other key stakeholders within the sporting community.

The Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, with the Trust Sports Emporium (Bukom Boxing Arena) serving as the venue for the event.

The marathon will feature both 21-kilometre and 5-kilometre categories, providing an opportunity for professional runners, recreational athletes and members of the general public to participate.

Interested participants can register by dialing *320*21# and paying a registration fee of GH¢100.

The launch is expected to officially set the stage for what organisers believe will be a major addition to Ghana’s growing road-running and marathon calendar.
