Players have been cautioned by Ghanaian international Andre Ayew not to pay attention to online harassment.

The experienced forward feels that abuse should not be tolerated, even though he thinks criticism is vital.

Andre Ayew emphasized in an interview with BBC Sport Africa that when things are not going well, football players must remain resilient in the face of criticism.

It is all about you, concentrating on your work and your obligations. There are positive and negative aspects to anything, so occasionally attempt to figure out the source of the criticism; it may be helpful. We play football for the fans, particularly in our nation and continent, where the game is extremely popular.

The Ghana captain continued, “You want to make the people happy, but when it’s just nonsense talk, push it away.

Those sacrifices have ranged from rigorous training to lifestyle changes, including dietary adjustments.

Ayew acknowledged the challenges, especially as age demands even greater effort.

“As you’re growing older, you need to train more. It’s even harder to stop yourself from eating certain foods,” he said.

“We Africans, especially, like to eat good food. But at some point, you have to make a lot of sacrifices.

With my experience, I just feel that you need to stay focused and listen to what the coaches, the analysts, and the staff have to tell you. That’s where the real information comes from.”

Andre Ayew has had an illustrious career spanning close to two decades.

He is currently actively playing for Le Havre in the French Ligue 1, where he has indicated that he is not ready to stop now.
