Accra, Ghana – The organisers of the 2025 Absa Black Star Marathon have proudly welcomed Blake Boldon, a highly respected figure in global athletics, to Ghana ahead of this year’s historic event scheduled for Saturday, 26th July 2025, at Independence Square, Accra.

 

Blake Boldon serves as the First Vice-President of the Black Star Marathon, Director of the Drake Relays at Drake University in the United States of America (USA), and is a World Athletics Certified Competition Director. His presence in Ghana brings a wealth of international experience, credibility, and technical expertise to this prestigious race, further cementing its position on the global athletics calendar.

 

Boldon’s visit comes as the marathon prepares to welcome thousands of runners from Ghana and across the world. His involvement highlights the international collaboration and professional standards being integrated into the event. As a certified director under World Athletics, his input will help ensure the race meets world-class competition regulations while also promoting athlete development in Ghana.

 

The Absa Black Star Marathon has evolved into Ghana’s premier road race, attracting elite competitors, fitness enthusiasts, and passionate spectators alike. Under the theme #YourStoryMatters, the marathon is more than a race, it is a national celebration of unity, resilience, and the Black Star spirit.

 

This year’s event is set to be even more special, with President John Dramani Mahama, the current President of Ghana, expected to fire the starting gun at 6:00 AM.
