The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, one of Ghana’s most iconic football venues, is currently undergoing critical maintenance work on its pitch to ensure it meets top playing standards ahead of upcoming fixtures. The ongoing works include grass re-turfing, aimed at replacing worn-out sections with fresh, high-quality natural grass to improve ball roll and player safety. Groundskeepers are also carrying out soil aeration, which involves creating small holes in the surface to enhance air and water flow to the roots, promoting stronger grass growth.

In addition, the pitch drainage system is being checked and upgraded to prevent waterlogging during heavy rains, while the irrigation system is receiving repairs to guarantee consistent watering. Leveling works are also in progress to remove uneven spots that could affect gameplay. These improvements are expected to provide a smoother, more durable surface, enhancing both the aesthetics and performance quality of the stadium for domestic and international matches.
