Ghana’s Godfred Opoku has booked his place in the men’s 400m final at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon after producing a strong performance in the semi-finals.
Opoku finished third in Semi-Final Heat 2 with an impressive 45.91 seconds, securing his place among the finalists.
The Ghanaian had earlier announced himself in the competition by winning his first-round heat in 46.05 seconds, finishing ahead of Barbados’ Shamari Greenidge-Lewis, who clocked 46.34 seconds.
His 45.91-second performance in the semi-final shows significant improvement and puts Opoku in contention for a place on the podium as he prepares for the biggest race of his championship.
