Kumasi City Marathon Rescheduled to July 25 with New Race Categories for 2026 Edition

The organisers of the Kumasi City Marathon have officially announced a new date and revised race categories for the 2026 edition of the event. According to a press release issued on May 4, 2026, the marathon, which was originally scheduled for June 6, 2026, will now take place on July 25, 2026.

The organisers explained that the decision to reschedule the event forms part of strategic efforts aimed at improving event organisation, increasing participation, and delivering a world-class race experience for all participants.

In addition to the new date, the marathon has introduced revised race categories designed to promote inclusivity and encourage wider participation across different groups in society.

The updated race categories include:

21KM Race for Professional Male and Female Athletes

10KM Wheelchair Race for Wheelchair Athletes

10KM Skate Race for Skaters

5KM Youth Race

5KM Walk for Corporate Teams

5KM Fun Walk open to the General Public

The organisers stated that the revised categories are intended to encourage youth involvement, corporate participation, and competitive athletics while promoting health, fitness, tourism, and community engagement in Ghana and beyond.
